This morning I was pleased to see that last night the collaborative album by Wavves and Cloud Nothings called No Life For Me was released digitally on iTunes and Bandcamp. Its release was announced via the following Instagram and Tweeter posts by Wavves.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, “The album was co-written by Wavves’ Nathan Williams and Cloud Nothings’ Dylan Baldi, and co-produced by Nathan and his brother and Sweet Valley/Spirit Club bandmate Joel. It also features Wavves drummer Brian Hill and additional vocals from Nathan’s Spirit Club bandmate Andrew Caddick. Despite initial reports that Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij would appear on the record, his contribution didn’t end up making it on.”
The artwork for this record, which is essentially black hand lettering on red, is made by Nicholas Gazin, who seems to be very satisfied with this new album as stated in one of his tweets.
I did the art for one of the only good rock n' roll records made recently. It's the new @wavves x… https://t.co/ghsVrFXMIZ

The physical release of the album, planned for October and limited to 1000 units, will be available in 2 different vinyl editions. The standard one which will be featuring the traditional black disc, and the limited one which will be beautifully red. Both are available for pre-order here.
I personally like it a lot. I like both bands and the fact of hearing typical sounds from them together, like the Wavves distorted guitar and voice or the “uuh uuh uuuuuuh uuh uuh” along with the Strokes-like guitar sound from Cloud Nothings or Dylan’s characteristic singing make it a perfect mixture. At the moment my favorite track is #2 How It’s Gonna go.
You can listen to the album below. For some reason it starts playing from the track #7, so make sure you check it out from the beginning!
